Beth Nowadnick joined the physics department at NJIT in September 2017 as an assistant professor.  Prior to NJIT, she was a postdoctoral research associate at Cornell University and Columbia University. 

She obtained a PhD in physics in 2013 and a BS in physics and mathematics in 2006, both from Stanford University. 

Beth's research is in the field of computational and theoretical condensed matter physics.  She utilizes a combination of density functional theory, group theoretic methods, and model Hamiltonian approaches

to elucidate the properties of complex materials such as ferroelectrics, charge density wave systems, and superconductors. A particular focus is on systems where multiple structural, magnetic and/or electronic order

parameters are active, giving rise to novel properties or functionality.
