All Physics courses and labs taken at other colleges must be in person and cannot be held online or remotely.
The form will get reviewed and approved by the Chair of the Physics Dept. or the Transfer Coordinator.
The form will get emailed directly to the Registrar's Office with a cc to the student. Once the Registrar's Office approves the form, the Registrar's Office will email the fully approved form to the student. Students may need the fully approved form for registration at another institution.
NJIT students who wish to take a Physics class at another college (including Rutgers-Newark, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) & Essex County College) over the summer must obtain prior written approval from the Physics Department. Students will need to complete and submit an “Approval Form for Undergraduate Course at Another Institution” which can be obtained at the link above. It is the student’s responsibility to find out if the other college is offering the Physics course. The Physics office staff can help the student to determine the correct equivalent course. Students must check with their academic advisor on the Physics course they require for their major. It is not the responsibility of the Physics Department if the student takes the wrong Physics course.
NJIT undergraduate students planning to take a summer course at another college must have the form "Approval Form for Undergraduate Course at Another Institution" signed by the NJIT department representative and the NJIT Office of the Registrar before registering at another college/institution. Transfer credit will be granted only if the grade of 'C' or higher is earned at the college offering the course(s). A grade will be posted only for courses completed at schools with an approved course registration agreement with NJIT. Any course(s) taken and grade(s) received at Rutgers-Newark, Essex County College, and RBHS will be posted on the NJIT transcript.
NOTE: Students are not permitted to take a Physics course at another college during the Fall and Spring semesters except under unusual circumstances which will be reviewed by the Chair of the Physics Department on a case by case basis.
Exception for taking courses at Rutgers-Newark, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) & Essex County College in Fall / Spring: Matriculated NJIT students may cross-register for courses at Rtugers-Newark, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) & Essex County College during Fall and Spring semesters. Eligible students, who wish to do so, should follow current procedures as described on the Registration Information | Office of The Registrar (njit.edu) website (go to Registration Instructions for Fall or Spring and look for the appropriate Cross Registration form).
